What is OCC?Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. It geared to send shoeboxes to children around the world. From children to seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children in need around the world. Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving. Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country.
When? It's almost time to be sending boxes to disadvantaged children throughout the world. Last year Valley Heart blessed 190 children with boxes filled with fun for Christmas. We will be sending them off in November. Now is the time for us to accumulate items to include in the boxes.

How does it work?Items are accumulated throughout the year at local churches. In November. Items are packed in shoeboxes and then added to large shipping cartons. Then the cartons are forwarded to a drop-off location during the third week of November. The drop-off forwards them to a central location in the local area. Upon collecting boxes from all locations, the boxes are shipped to a central national site. The boxes are inspected and prepared for shipment internationally.
What do we send?
We put together some ideas for shoebox items that we would like to include in this year's shoeboxes. We created the list through Amazon. It has items on it from Amazon, Dollar Tree, Oriental Trading, and Walmart. I am sending you a link to the list.

In addition, please be in prayer about where God wants you to be involved in this ministry. We will be a collection location for Operation Christmas Child in the Olympia area this year which will entail needing additional helpers. Thank you for your participation!
We have setup a goal page to allow you to build shoebox on-line. You can build one or more on-line. You can also use the link to buy a box and have a friend fill it in their name. How cool is that? To do so, click HERE. |
